Snohomish County is located just minutes north of Seattle. Nestled between the sparkling waters of Puget Sound and the snow-capped peaks of the Cascade Mountains, it has some of the most beautiful scenery in Washington State. The populated part of Snohomish County boasts a temperate climate year-round, with an average precipitation of about 35 inches. It has an average high temperature in the mid-70s in midsummer and average lows just above freezing in January.

Snohomish County’s largest city and seat of county government, Everett, sits on the shores of Port Gardner Bay, gazing across Puget Sound at the majestic Olympic Mountain range. It was once called the “City of Smokestacks” as it has a long association with industry and labor. It’s now an All American City (2002), but its first beginnings were less auspicious. Henry Hewitt, a Tacoma lumberman, convinced John D. Rockefeller and other Eastern developers to finance a “New York City” of the West. Plated in 1891, incorporated in 1893 and named after the son of one of the early investors, the city of Everett was born.
