Established in 1877 and incorporated in 1891, Marysville was named by early settlers for their former home of Marysville, California. It began as a trading post owned by James Comeford and served the surrounding area, its 18 logging camps and the Tulalip Indian reservation. As the land was cleared, numerous farms sprang up and strawberry fields proliferated. In the 1920’s, it earned the nickname “The Strawberry City”. Today, Marysville is a thriving community on the banks of the Snohomish River. Over the past decade, large residential, commercial, and industrial growth has transformed this city. With a population of over 32,000 residents and growing, Marysville is the 29th largest city in the state and fourth largest in the county. Marysville business is robust and many shopping opportunities exist in or near town. From the historic charm of downtown, to the Everett Mall with its 150 stores, there is plenty to buy and plenty of places to buy it. As an economic center, it has easy access to I-5, a rail line, waterway, and infrastructure, near the high-tech corridor with available commercial and light industrial-zoned property, a highly-trained and educated workforce. Marysville offers residents plenty to do. It has 360 acres of parks, including the 50-acre Jennings Memorial Park and Jennings Nature Park, Comeford Park and 30-acre Sunnyside Wildlife Park. Under development are a 71 acre parcel north of Marysville and 5.4 acres fronting Ebey Slough in the Snohomish River Delta. Native culture is alive at the adjacent Tulalip Indian Reservation. Activities of the great outdoors are close by and the arts are available at the Everett Symphony, Village Theatre. In the wider Northwest Metroplex you can find world class museums, symphony, ballet, performance theatre, opera and of course professional sports. Community volunteer options are plentiful and there is plenty of opportunity for a quality spiritual life in one of the many local churches. Education is a priority in the Marysville area. When you ask parents why they chose Marysville to raise a family, the area’s schools are a common reply. Marysville School District has 11,787 students. A quick 10 minutes away is Everett Community College and 4 year institutions of higher learning like the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University are within half an hour’s drive. The innovative University Center at Everett Station is a consortium of 5 state universities and provides a new higher education alternative. Dream homes with views can cost over a million dollars. A reasonable 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home can still be found for under $200,000 with some looking.
