Fife is a small city located just east of Tacoma and consists primarily of businesses such as car dealerships and other establishments that need the visibility of the tens of thousands of daily motorists speeding by on adjacent I-5. In the 1940s Fife was known only as a valley crossroads in the middle of brambles and truck farms with markets, taverns, shops, and a large balloon-roofed dance hall strung out along the highway. In the 50s it was incorporated and the 60s brought rumblings of commercial potential along side of the new freeway. In the 70’s, Fife was the home of the multi-acre estate of Indian Activist Bob Satiacum.
