Bellevue and Seattle Eastside Communities

The lush valley and slowly meandering Squak (Sammamish) River are what have defined Woodinville for eons. The Sammamish people lived along the river harvesting the bounty of the land and water for thou- sands of years. As the whites filled the land the native’s subsistence lifestyle conflicted with development and they were moved onto lands reserved for them and apart from the Whites. The valley’s natural attributes of towering trees and fertile soil cre- ated the basis for the first commercial en- terprises, logging and farming in the 1870s. As logging continued to move to the east the valley’s rich soil was left entirely to the farmer.

Along the Eastside’s “Gold Coast”, Yarrow Point is a half crescent peninsula thumbing into the pristine blue waters of Lake Washington between Cozy Cove and Yarrow Bay. Tucked into this wooded, watery setting along with its fellow “Point Cities” the city of Yarrow Point is among the most affluent communities in the nation.
